Mussels Marinara

I was so excited to receive a package from Victoria Fine Foods, a master of pasta sauce. I have used some of their products and love them because they always taste homemade. Needless to say, when they shared their Basil Tomato Sauce with me, I couldn't wait to try it. This company founded 90 years ago has always prided itself on the belief that Ingredients Come First,™ so I knew I was in for a treat. The sauce is made from imported Italian tomatoes and packed with basil. I decided to create Mussels Marinara using this great product, and I'm so glad that I did. They were incredibly delicious and perfectly flavored, thanks to the sauce. All I did was add a few ingredients and ended up with a fantastic meal. The mussels are excellent for a family dinner, entertaining friends, and of course, are perfect for the holiday season. Give them a try, and I know you'll love them.

Ingredients for Mussels Marinara:

1 - 24 -ounce jar Victoria Tomato Basil Sauce

4 pounds mussels

3 tablespoons olive oil

6 cloves of garlic, sliced

1/8 teaspoon crushed dried red pepper flakes (optional)

3/4 cup water

1/2 cup dry white wine

Serve with crostini, Italian bread, or pasta.

Time-Saving Tip: Have all of your ingredients measured out before starting to cook since it is a reasonably quick process.

Let's see what we need.

We're ready to cook.

Saute the garlic and red pepper flakes in the olive oil until edges of the garlic start to turn golden. Pour in the wine and simmer for a minute.

Add the sauce to the garlic mixture. Add the water to the now-empty sauce jar and slosh it around a bit and pour the mixture into the pot. Bring to a simmer and cook for two minutes.

While the sauce is simmering add the mussels. Cover and continue cooking until the mussels are all opened. This will take 4-6 minutes.

Once they are opened they are done cooking. Discard any stragglers that are closed. Serve the mussels and spoon the marinara on top.

It's ready! The Mussels Marinara are delicious and so simple to make thanks to Victoria Fine Foods. The sauce is so well seasoned that this dish comes together quickly. We just loved it and know I'll be making it often.

Enjoy!
