This crispy and flaky crust covered in a mountain of tart plums and sprinkled with sugar and spices is a must try. As soon as I see these plums at the market I grab some and then I grab some more. By the time I get home I am reaching into the bag for the sweet treat while trying to decide what I should be making with them. Try this recipe. It's a winner.
Ingredients for Italian Plum Tart:
1 sheet of frozen puff pastry, defrosted
30 Italian Prune Plums
1/3 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup flour
1/2 teaspoon cinnamom
1/8 teaspoon nutmeg
1 tablespoon cold butter, diced
Time Saving Tip: You can cut the fruit a couple of hours before combining them with the rest of the ingredients.
Let's gather up what we need.
Now we can make the tart.
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.
Place the pastry on a piece of parchmont paper. Roll out the puff pastry to 10" x 10". If necessary, trim the sides to make them even. Slide the dough and parchmont paper onto the cookie sheet and refrigerate.
Cut each plum into quarters. Place all of the pieces to a medium sized bowl. Add the flour, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt to the fruit and thoroughly combine.
Pour the fruit on the chilled puff pastry. Distribute the chilled cubed butter on top of the fruit. Bake for about 40 minutes until the fruit juices are bubbling a bit and when the pastry is a light golden brown.
It's ready! You will love it.
Enjoy!
Looks good!
