Growing up, sometimes my mom would take my sister and me to a fast-food burger joint. Those visits were few and far between, but I remember my mom always ordered the unexpected. She would get a squishy bun filled with something that wasn't a burger. So with this memory in mind, I created Friday Fish Sandwich. A crispy fish fillet is nestled between a slather of homemade tartar sauce, mesclun, and toasted sourdough bread. Each bite is crispy, creamy, briny, and delicious. My family loves this one.
Ingredients for Friday Fish Sandwich:
1 loaf sliced Sourdough Bread
Artisan Lettuce or mesclun
I rely on my recipes for Flounder Milanese with Tartar Sauce. I usually make the flounder for dinner and the next day make these awesome sandwiches. Make one or make as many as you would like. If you plan on making all sandwiches buy two loaves of bread
Time-Saving Tip: Prepare the fish and tartar sauce the day before preparing the sandwiches.
We're ready to cook.
If you made the fish in advance, gently reheated it in the microwave or the oven until very warm. Reheated until the fish is hot might overcook it. Toast the bread and slather one piece with tartar sauce. Add some lettuce, a fillet or two, and season with kosher salt and pepper. Add tartar sauce to another piece of toasted bread, a little more lettuce, and tip with the toast. It's that easy!
It's ready! Friday Fish Sandwich is so delicious. I love making these with the leftovers from dinner, but they are so good sometimes this is the main event. You will love these.
Enjoy!
