These homemade crostini are so fresh tasting. They are lightly seasoned and they go with everything. The are the perfect partner to any spread, cheese, smoked fish or even soups and stews. You can make them your own and alter the seasoning whenever the mood strikes. Did I mention that they are so easy to make?

Ingredients for Crostini:

1 baguette, sliced into 1/4 inch pieces on the diagonal

olive oil

kosher salt

coarse pepper

cookie sheet

parchmont paper (optional)

Time Saving Tip: The crostini can be made in advance. After baking, cool and store in an air tight container or a ziplock baggie.

I line the pan with parchmont paper for easy clean up. This step is optional.

For garlic flavored crostini, rub a clove of garlic out each piece of bread as soon as you take them out of the oven.

Let's get what we need.

Let's get cooking!

Place all of the baguette slices on a parchmont paper lined sheet pan. Brush both sides of each slice with olive oil and sprinkle with salt and pepper.

Bake in a 400 degree preheated oven for about 10-15 minutes. Then turn over and bake for another 10 minutes. The crostini harden a bit more when cooled. It you want them crisper just bake a few more minutes.

Here they are...golden and crisp crostini. If you are preparing these a day or so in advance make sure to cool completely prior to storing.

Enjoy!
