Let's face it every holiday dinner that has turkey at the centerpiece needs its cranberry sidekick. Like Snoopy and Woodstock where there is one, you will surely find the other. Here at Cranberry Walk, we are big on...well, cranberries. Cranberry-Orange Sauce has orange juice and orange zest and some cinnamon complementing the berries. It is yummy, easy to make, and can be made in advance. The sauce is great for the big meal but also taste great on turkey sandwiches.
Ingredients for Cranberry-Orange Sauce:
1 - 12 ounce bag fresh cranberries
1 orange - juiced and zested
water
1 cup sugar
1 cinnamon stick
Time-Saving Tips: The sauce can made a few days in advance and can be kept in the refrigerator.
Let's see what we need.
Time to cook.
Juice the orange directly into a measuring cup. Fill the remainder with water to get a total of 1 cup of liquid. Add the liquid, cranberries, sugar and cinnamon stick into a saucepan. Simmer until the cranberries start to pop and the sauce thickens. This can take about 10- 15 minutes. Stir in the zest. That's it now just pour it into a bowl. I like to bring it to room temperature and then refrigerate.
It's ready! It is beautiful and tastes so good. It's really a must at every holiday table. Cranberry-Orange Sauce is the perfect accompaniment to turkey, duck and even goose.
Enjoy!
