One of our local Asian restaurants serves the best blood orange margaritas. They're colorful and flavorful and I always look forward to my visits there. Here's my version. It's easy and just as delicious. I think tequila is my new favorite drink.
Ingredients for Blood Orange Margarita:
2-3 servings depending on the size of the glasses
1/2 cup tequila, 100% Agave (Cabo Wabo is our favorite)
1/2 cup orange liquor (Triple-Sec)
1/4 cup freshly squeezed blood orange juice
1/4 cup freshly squeezed lime juice
kosher salt
ice
You will also need a cocktail shaker.
I did not add any sweetener to the drinks and think they are really perfect. However, if you have a sweet tooth a drop or two of agave would work here.
Time-Saving Tip: The juice can be squeezed earlier in the day or even the day before. In a pinch, you can use purchased blood orange juice.
Let's see what we need:
We're ready to make the drinks!
Pour some kosher salt onto a plate. Rub a piece of the orange on the rim of a couple of glasses and then dip the rim of each glass into the salt; set aside.
Fill the shaker up halfway with ice. Pour in the liquor and juice and shake vigorously.
It's ready! And it's delicious!
Enjoy!
