What to do with that end of summer basil in your garden? Well, make Basil Butter! It is so yummy and versatile. You can make a batch or two and freeze it for later. It is wonderful on bread, pasta, steaks, fish, and corn. The options are limitless. It also really makes whatever you add it to extra special. I promise if you give it try you will wonder how you have managed for so long without it.
Ingredients for Basil Butter:
2 sticks unsalted butter, room temperature
1 teaspoon finely chopped garlic
1/4 cup finely chopped basil
1/8 teaspoon coarse black pepper
1/4 teaspoon Kosher salt
If you decide to use a hand beater like I did I used my KithchenAid Architect hand Beater. Click HERE if you would like to learn more about it.
Time-Saving Tips: This butter can be made in advanced and refrigerated for a few days or frozen.
Let's see what we need.
Let's make the basil butter.
It is very easy. Place the room temperature butter in a bowl. Either with a wooden spoon or with a hand beater mix or whip the butter. Once the butter is whipped add the rest of the ingredients and combine.
If you are not using the butter right away and would like to freeze it it is best to wrap it up well in plastic wrap. I like to place a piece of plastic wrap on the counter. Then I place the butter on top in a log. While wrapping it up I use the plastic wrap as a guide and shape the butter into an even log. This makes it easier to cut off pieces.
Whether your using the Basil Butter right away or saving it for later I am sure you will love it.
Enjoy!
